LADIES' GARDENING CLUB
FRONT GARDEN COMPETITION. 1 Much interest was taken in the front j garden competition arranged by the I Ladies’ Gardening Club. The prizes were awarded as follows: Mrs Thomson, Moody’s Avenue, 1; Mrs Woodman, Powhiri Avenue', 2; Mrs Simons, Main’s Avenue, 3. The judges were Mrs Given, Mrs Finch and Mr and Mrs C. Bevins. They are to be commended on the careful and thorough way in which they carried out the judging, of which a detailed report will be given by Mrs Given and Mr C. Bevins at the next meeting of the club, on Tuesday. October 29. Competition was very keen. The main sections under which points were awarded were. (1) design, (2) show of blooms, (3) neatness. The club hopes that this competition will inspire other-householders to cultivate their front garden, really for any other following competition.
