COMPETITIVE BOWLS

WHANG ARE! AND KENSINGTON CLUBS PLAYING ROOM FOR ALL. SATURDAY’S LARGE ATTENDANCES CATERED FOR. A strong cross-wind made conditions difficult on the Whangarei Bowling Club’s greens on Saturday afternoon, when the first competition matches of the season were played. Both greens were in excellent condition. This was the first opportunity of testing conditions as a result of the change in the statutory half- holiday, and, although the attendance was large, ample accommodation was available, and this is likely to be the case throughout the season. Draw games were played with the following results:— Menzies, Gazzard, Richards, Whitelaw 18, v. Wise, Morrison, Simmons, Allen 17; Reynolds, Hendy, Eccles, Judd, 20, v. Ray, J. G. Campbell, Taylor, Coote, 15; Roseman, Dr Cook, Sothern, J. Wilson, 23, v. Farmer, Sargent, Telfer, D. X. McLeod, 12; Lamb, Trembath, Wilding, Miller, 26, v. Trimmer, McCarroll, J.
