large number before court SPEED PASSING SCHOOLS A large' number of traffic cases was dealt with by Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., at the Whangarei Police Court this morning. Paul Stanaway pleaded ignorance of the regulations in respect to restriction of speed to 15 miles when passing schools. The magistrate said that the restriction should be known to all motorists who, unless they observed them might become involved in experiences, which would for ever prey upon their consciences. Stanaway was ", fined £2 and costs 13/-. For operating a lorry on the Ruatangata-Pipiwax Road without having taken out a heavy traffic license, J. Niha was fined £2 and 12/-. Group traffic inspector, F.| Watters, said that the lorry wasi completely without brakes, and travelled down hills at a tremendous speed'. Mr. Morris said that this was the worst case of its kind he had known. if or not having efficient brakes Niha was fined £4 andl 12/-, and warned to see that the matter was attended- to immediately. Many other motorists, for varying reasons, contributed to the national revenue.
