GROUP MEETING

’ GATHERING AT TITOKI. A group meeting of Women’s Institutes was held in the Titoki Hall on June 28. Owing to the inclement weather there was a poor representation of the N four Institutes. Visitors ' were present from Kamo, Whangarei and Maunu. Mrs Griffin, who occupied the chair, called upon Mrs Brown to introduce Mrs Kelso. Mrs Kelso gave an interesting address on group activities- and drama festival competitions. A . feature of the afternoon was an original play, “Just Before the Battle, Mother,” which was cleverly acted by Mesdames Carruth and Pearson. Mrs Kelso was so delighted with this sketch that she invited the players to show it at the Dominion Conference in Auckland. Mrs Carruth as “Hezekiah” was the best male impersonator Mrs Kelso has yet seen. Mrs Baker sang and community singing followed. Mrs Griffin then called for a vote of thanks to Mesdames Kelso and Brown. The respective presidents then expressed their appreciation of an enjoyable afternoon. Afternoon tea was served by the Titoki .members.
