Out and About in the North
KAITAIA I There was a good attendance at a I card party held in the Kaitaia Parish i Hall on Tuesday evening by the Anj glican ladies. The winning players 1 were Mrs Morris and Mr Mitchel, and Ihe consolation prizes went to Mrs Mitchell and Mr Hudson. A worked needle-basket was won by Mrs Cross. Supper was served by the ladies. PUKEPOTO A dance organised by the Pukepoto School Committee, to raise funds for i cocoa for the children, was held in j the Rarawa Hall on Monday evening. 1 The music was supplied by the local orchestra, with extras by- Mrs Yates and Mr Clark Robson. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs J. Robson, and Mr J. Graham and Miss AT Busby were the winners in the statue log cabin. Songs were rendered by Miss W. Cameron and Mesdames M. Yates and Nathan. Supper was served by the ladies. BROADWOOD A dance was held on Saturday night in the 1.0.0. F. Hall. Proceeds were to go towards the hall expenses. The Oddfellow members served supper. Music was supplied by Tom Hollows’ orchestra. There was a good attend- j ance. Miss Wordsworth, relieving assistant at the Broadwood School, has returned to Auckland, and Miss U. F. Hawke will commence duties as assistant teacher on June 30. Mrs Neill, of Tutekehua, has been visiting her sister, Mi’s Kj oiler, of Broadwood. Miss Lily Hicks, of Broadwood, has gone to Dargaville, where she intends residing for some time. MATAKOHE The basketball girls held a dance in the public ball, Matakohe, on Tuesday, June 25. The attendance was good, although the night was wet. The music was supplied by the Matakohe Orchestra, the’extras being played by Mrs G. Peak, Mr and Mrs Walridge (Ararua), and Mrs Padget (Tinopai). The takings were about £6 10/-.
