WHANGAREI HIGH SCHOOL
MEETING OF BOARD. JUBILEE CELEBRATION PLANS. Mr H. C. Rishworth, the chairman, presided at last evening’s meeting of the High School Board of Governors. A letter was receive 4 from the Auckland Education Board advising that Messrs H. W- Crawford and C. F. Collins had been appointed the board’s representatives for the ensuing term. Appreciation of the services of the retiring member, Dr. JV G Campbell, was mimited. Arrangements were made for a ceremony to take place at the school, in connection with the King’s Jubilee* The gathering will be held on May 7. The flag will be raised, and this will be followed by a Jubilee address, after which the houses will march past. Mr A. J. Murdoch, M.P., the .Mayor, Mr W. Jones, and representatives of the Old Pupils’ Association will be invited to attend: It has also been decided to give all scholars a free picture entertainment at a later date, when a suitable picture is showing. Mr A. J; Sligo tendered his resignation from the senior school teaching staff to take on insurance work. Arrangements are to be made to dll the, vacancy. ■ It was announced that the purchase of material for the Memorial Gates had been arranged by the Old Pupils’ Association in conjunction with the board. .Plans are to be prepared prior to the erection of the gates. It has also been decided that gates and a fence of similar design will be erected in School Lane.
