CHOICE OF LESSER EVIL.
A BRIEF EXPEDIENT.

The “Sunday Observer” declaring that the beef subsidy is a temporary choice of a temporary evil that will never form the foundation of a safe policy, expresses the opinion that every effort should be made to escape the tangle of quotas and subsidies when the Ottawa agreements expire, enabling Home protection and Imperial preference based on simple tariffs, openly appreciable both to agriculture and industry.
