AMENDE HONORABLE

VOCE’S BOWLING REGRETS FROM NOTTS COUNTY. 1 “WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN." t United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright.l (Received noon.) SYDNEY. This Day. The secretary of the Board of Control, Mr Jeans, stated when delegates adjourned last night that the manager’s report to the board included a letter from the Marylebone Club, which had reached him since his return to Australia. This letter, which was dated November 13, stated that the committee of the Nottingham County Cricket Club at its meeting on October 26 had carried the following resolution: —“This committee deprecates the bowling of Voce on the Monday evening of the Nottingham-Australia match at Trent Bridge, in the two overs referred to, and will take the necessary steps to prevent its recurrence.” The latter added that the .Marylebone Club felt that Mr H. Bushby, the Australian team’s manager, would now know how much the Marylebone Cricket Committee regretted the incident and expressed the hope that nothing of the kind would happen again. Mr Jeans stated that the board had not carried any resolutions on the subject. : Consideration of the reports of the manager and treasurer have not yet ended. It will be remembered that Voce, having bowled a fast leg theory attack at the end of the second day, was not played on the third day of the match between Australia and Notts, the Notts committee intimating to inquiries that they wished him to rest with a view to their next fixture. This explanation was generally regarded at the time as a polite fiction, and the Notts public jumped to the conclusion that the Australians had protested against Vice’s leg theory, and they “roasted” the visiting players, despite their statement that no protest had been made. This expression of regret from the Notts committee and the Marylebone Club may be regarded as the amende honorable.
