Captain H. Donald, of the staff of the Marixxe Department, has received advice of his transfer to the position of smweyor of ships at Dunedin. Captain Donald has been stationed at Lyttelton for the last two years. The death occurred in the Whangarei District Hospital last night of Captain W. Cook, aged 75. Captain Cook was associated Avith the whaling industx'y in the North, and his family have been operating from Russell for many years. Mr Neville Newhold, of Christchurch, has accepted a position in the engineer’s department of the Antarctic expedition ship, Bear of Oakland. Mr Newhold is a graduate of Otago University and Cambi’idge College, and has been employed as assistant engineer of the Sumner causeway construction. under the jux-isdiction of the Christchurch City Council.
