Prices advanced 5/ to 6/6 a head on the rates of a fortnight ago. Both Hereford and Polled Angus cattle were in good demand. Firm prices ruled for fat sheep. Quotations.— Store Cattle. —Hereford yearling steers (very good line), 75/; others, 59/; 2-year steers, 54/; a mixed line of Hereford and Polled Angus. 88/; 3year, £4 14/ to £5 3/; bullocks, £4 5/ to £5 19/; yearling heifers, 36/ to 50/; 2- 69/ to 78/; 3-year. 87/; Polled Angus steers, good yearlings, 74/ to 80/; other lines, 49/; to 53/; 2-year, 88/ to 95/; two and 3-year, 95/; very good 3- steers, £5 11/ to £5 13/; others, 94/ to 95/; bullocks, £5 6/ to £5 19/; yearling heifers. 46/ to 60/; good 2-year-old heifers, 65/ to 74/; others. 48/ to 58/; good 3-year heifers, 87/ to 95/; others, 72/ to 75/; cows, 50/; Holstein bullocks, 97/; Shorthorn steers, 2-year, 90/; 3-year, 92/; dairy springing heifers, 45/ to 85/; springing cows, 43/ to 105/; heifers in milk, 52/6; yearling Jersey heifers, 35/ to 50/.
Fat Cattle.—Prime heavy heifers, dairy breeds. £5 2/6 to £6 2/6; light prime, £3 10/ to £4 15/; prime heavy cows, £4 2/6 to £5 5/; light prime, £2 to £4; prime light bullocks, £6 10/ to £7 12/6. Fat Sheep.—Prime wethers, 21/5 to 22/3; prime woolly ewes, to 24/3; shorn prime, 16/6 to 19/6; maiden ewes, in wool, 29/3; lambs, 22/6 to 24/9; 2-toothed, 20/ to 22/8; prime woolly hoggets, 24/ to 26/; shorn, 19/ to 22/; black-faced hoggets, 22/6.
