FARM SORTS IN DEMAND
(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day,
A medium entry of all classes of horses came forward at Hikutaia, states the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd. Competition was keen, especially for good, useful farm horses, and a good sale resulted with values on a par with Cambridge rates. Quotations were as follows:—Twoyear draughts, £ll to £23 10/; threeyear draughts, £l6; six-year bay geldings, £46 10/; aged bay mare, £45 10/; four-year bay gelding, £4l; fourlyear bay mare, £4l; nine-year grey 1 gelding, £39 10/; lighter sorts realised from £l7 to £34; hacks and
light harness horses, £6 10/ to £l4 10/. At Claudelands on Friday, Messrs. G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., conducted the usual monthly horse sale. The class of horse yarded ranged from light to medium draughts of very ordinary quality, ancj although no high figures were obtained practically the whole yarding changed hands readily at latest ruling rates. Light to medium farm horses made from £2B to £34 10/; light farm horses, £2O to £27; aged horses, from £ls to £l9; unsound horses, £8 to £l2; fair hacks, £lO to £l3; others, £2 10/ to £6; two-year light draught fillies, unbroken, £l6 10/ to £l6 15/; 18months light draught gelding, unbroken, £ls 5/.
