FOR THE GROWING CHILD. When a child grows too big to sleep in a cot, the frame of the bed can be adapted as a settee. Remove the drop •side, but retain the wire spring and hair mattresses, and cover the latter witlr eretonne. • Make a valance of the cretonne to conceal the legs of the cot, it r C ’to‘T the.;: framework . with tapes’. ( Tjhe sides and back will have tcTb'e : padded, and'for this purpose you wDr'nee'd T three flat - eushionsr—one long eriough 'tb fit the back and two short ones "for* the "side's—covered with cretonne. —Tie ,:.the cushions to the frame coloured tapes. If, the cot is made* of wood it may be cut down, if this is desirable, by sawing off about three; inches from the legs, then refixing the; castors. The result is an excellent nursery, settee.
