HAPPY GATHERING
TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY. PARTY AT PERI A, In honour of the twenty-first birthday of their daughter. Miss Maud Rogers, Mr and Mrs Rogers, of Kaiaka, entertained a large gathering of friends in the Peria Hall on Tuesday night, a number travelling from Kaitaia and Victoria Valley to participate in the celebrations. A band of young lady friends of Miss Rogers had decorated the hall with blue and pink streamers, coloured balloons and arum lilies. The evening was devoted to dancing. Mr W. Morey was M.C., and orchestral music was provided by Mrs W. Christensen, and 'Messrs. Christenson, D. Black and .T. Letherwick. The supper was in keeping with all the other arrangements made for entertaining the guests. The cutting by Miss Rogers of a two-tiered cake, fittingly decorated and illuminated with 21 candles, was the most interesting ceremony of the evening. Mr W, Hosikin expressed the pleasure it gave all present to celebrate, with Mr and Mrs Rogers, the coming of age of their daughter. He offered the best wishes for the future happiness of Miss Rogers. Mr Carton, replying on behalf of Miss Rogers, particularly thanked those who had assisted in the preparations for the evening by decorating the hall. Mr C, J. Earriball replied on behalf of Mr and Mrs Rogers.
