TRADE WITH WEST INDIES
SHIPMENTS OF FRUIT. (Per Press Association—Cooyrielit.T WELLINGTON, This Day, Negotiations for trade with tho West Indies have been in progress for some time. Mr .1. W. Collins, the New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Canada, was sent to the West Indies some months ago to make inquiries into the possibility of reciprocal trade with New Zoaltand, and this action, combined with the individual efforts of certain linns in the Dominion, has brought about prospects of a new avenue in trade in citrus fruits. The Shaw, Sav'd! and Albion steamer lonic, which left Wellington on Wednesday for. Loudon, ■ will, on her return trip, call at Kingston and load a consignment of citrus fruit. She is due here in November, and will, it is hoped, be followed by the Akaroa with a shipment of fruit from Kingston for the. Christmas trade. Vessels of other lines are. likely to participate in this new trade, particularly as there is always tourist traffic between England and the '.Vest Indies.
