MAIRTOWN TENNIS
CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING. SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The annual meeting ot‘ tlio Mairtowu Tennis Club was held last night, 1!) members attending. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted, the latter showing a surplus of £7l 0/6 on the year’s working. The number of members last year was 112. Two resignations were accepted and four new members elected last night. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr H. C. Rish worth; president, Mr L. A. Johnson; vicepresidents, Messrs Martin and Birnic; secretary, Mr F. Stevenson; assistant secretary, Miss R. Tibbits; captain, Mr J. Batchelor; vice-captain, Miss K. Burch; committee, Messrs Birnic, Nicholls, Morgan, Cuthbert and Mrs Shilton; ladies’ committee, Mesdames King, Shilton, Batchelor, Misses Tibbits, E. Simons and I. Tucker; match committee, Messrs Cuthbert, Morgan and Stevenson; delegates to N.A. L. the president, secretary and Mr Batchelor; auditor, Mr W. T. Surinam Opening day was fixed for Saturday, September 10. It was decided to ‘.instruct the delegates to the N.A.L.T.A. to endeavour to have the Rishworth Shield competition reinstated. The committee will consider the provision of balls on club days. Votes of thanks to the outgoing officers and to Mrs Courtney were carried.
