THROUGH DEER COUNTRY
MINISTER AND PARTY. {Per Press Association.— Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. In his tour of deer-infested regions in the ranges of South Hon. I. A. Young, Minister of Internal Affairs, who returned to Christchurch today, was accompanied by Captain G. I’. Yerex, who is in charge of the deedestruction operations for the Govern ment, and by Mr Malcolm Fraser, Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs. The party left Christchurch on March 11, drove to Pembroke and went on next day to the head'or Lake Wanak-i. There they saw something of the work of a party of men hunting and shoot jng deer. The party covered very difficult country by horse and on foot to the Haast Valley, and saw some of the deer-infested country in South West land. On his trip the Minister shot two deer, and Mr Fraser, who went with one of the shooting parties, also shot several. Mr Young returned to Wei llngton last night.
