Air Kdgar l.aushiirv, a sou of the Keader of tin 1 Opposition, Air George Kansbury, was lined £2O ami £23 costs on a charge of contravention of the Ofilcial Recrets Act in a hook, ‘‘George Lansbnry, Afy Fattier,” in which he included a certain official memorandum which his father submitted to Cabinet while First Commissioner of Works in the Labour Alinistry during the 193.1 crisis. Defendant was served with a summons returnable mi Alarch 19, and the publishers have withdrawn the book and will issue a revised edition. Air Lansbnry’s memorandum suggested “sacrifices all round,’’ including an emergency tax on all incomes over £3OO, ranging from 2 per cent to 10 per cent. He contended that this was essential unless (he Cabinet was to say, “her, the unemployed ami down-and-outs starve.'' Kdgar Lansbnry in a statement says that Mr Ramsay ALacDonald repeatedly said his father opposed unemployment cuts. “1 inserted the memorandum to show the real issue.”
