DISAFFECTED SEAMEN
HOLDtXJP prediction. DISCOUNTED BY UNION. . (Received 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 21. A message from Melbourne states that officials of the Seamen’s Union there are in touch with the crews of the Wanganella, Kooyong and Allawa. As the result of reports of disaffection, one official is reported to have predicted a general hold-up, but he declined to say so for publication with his name. -The crew of ; the Kooyong gave notice, but the, captain later informed the owners, Messrs Mcllraith and MeEarcharn, dhat the notice bad been withdrawn. The shipowners’ chairman, Mr J. L. Webb, refuses to comment on the situation. Seamen’s- Union officials in Newcastle predict that there is no likelihood of. an extension of the dispute, which already has involved the steamer Goulburn. The Kooyong reached Newcastle today and her cargo was, unloaded. The vessel then left on time.
