ST. JOHN BRIGADE FINANCE

BUDGET OVER £SOO. SERVICE TO FOOTBALLERS. Convincing figures, showing the service given by the St. John Y.M.C.A. Ambillanee Brigade to Rugby footballers, were quoted by Mr L, W. Nelson, a member of the Citizens’ Committee which waited upon the last meeting of the Union executive with an appeal for assistance.

In the 1932 season’, 34 grounds were attended, the total number of first-aid men on duty being 75, and cases treated totalled 160.

This year to \date, 33 grounds have been attended by 52 officers, who have treated 120 cases. During the progress of the rep. game last Saturday, six injuries received attention;

Mr Nelson contended, that, considering the facilities provided, the players were not 'contributing adequately. ’ He dealt with the aspect of safenessplayers taking part knowing that if they met with mishap they would re« ceive immediate, skilled attention.

Mr Nelson stated that, on a conservative basis, a budget of £SOB 14/- per annum was required to keep the brigade on a sound footing. The items of expenditure were estimated as follows:—General maintenance, £207 14/drivers’ wages £9o,'interest on Joan £2o! sinking fund and equipment £32, buildings £B4, private loan and fixed liabilities £75.
