The famous French professional tennis player, Mdlle Susanne Lenglen, opened a year’s engagement at Selfridge’s, London, to-day, when she gave demonstrations, wearing a linen combination costume of her own invention, ■ including a. pair of shorts reaching three inches below the knees, covered with a coat-like skirt buttoned up the back and front.
Mdlle Lenglen said she approved of coatless shorts if worn privately, - but in public.—no. 5
