WHANGAREI’S PORT
BERTHING OVERSEAS VESSEL'S. INQUIRY FROM DUNEDIN. An inquiry as to the facilities available at Whangarei for the berthing of overseas vessels was received at the meeting of the Whangarei Harbour Board this morning from H. L. Tapley and Co., Ltd., shipping agents, of Dunedin. “We have an inquiry as to the possibility* of berthing an overseas vessel at your port, and we would be glad if you would kindly advise us of the berthage accommodation available, the depth of water, whether there is a railway to the ship’s side, and who handles * the cargo on the wharf or in railway trucks,” stated the letter. Pull particulars- of the port were desired. The secretary, Mr W. M. Fraser, stated that he had written giving all the information desired, apd his action, was approved.
