School Steeplechase. Tlie annual steeplechase took place on Wednesday (loth hist.), when the cold and bracing day added to the boys’ keenness. Little Desmond Lane carried off the honour of winning the Cnbitt Cn]* by coining in first: Murray Hilford followed closely, with Earl Lee third. Jack Hilford, showing splendid endurance, agaii? covered the course in the fastest time. At the conclusion of the steeplechase, Douglas Peters called for cheers for Desmond Lane, winner of the cup; Jack Hilford, fastest time; the donor of the cup, Mr E. L. Cnbitt; the School Committee for making necessary arrangements; and for Mr Colin Loach who assisted materially in various ways.
