WHANGAREI HEADS
Quite a successful dance was hold in the Tanrikura. hall last Tuesday, the proceeds going to . the Whangarei Heads library fund. A very happy time was spent by all, the younger generation expending their surplus energy by dancing, while the older ones played 500. There were three -tables in play. Some very hard fought games were contested. The winner of the ladies’ pHze, Airs F. Going, had to cut cards with Airs L. Harnett to decide who was the winner. The men’s prize went to our well known champion, Mr Grant McLeod. A most enjoyable evening was spent at a 500 tournament given by Air and Airs E. Plaisted last Saturday night. There were three tables in play, the best players of the evening being Airs W. Irving and Mr D. S. Kerr. Personal. Mrs A. Stuart, of Whangarei, is spending a month’s holiday with her mother, Mrs E. Plaisted, of McLeod's Bay. Air and Airs Bird and family, of Alaunu, having taken over the property at Urquhart’s Bay known as “Potter’s” intend to farm there. A heartv welcome is extended to them.
