AMALGAMATION PROPOSAL HOBSON DELEGATES. .' o. EAST TO WEST CUT. (Special to "Northern Advocate **) DAEGAVILLE, This Day. At a meeting of the Hobson County Council, Mr V. Trounson presiding, M? T. A. Ballantyne and the chairman were appointed delegates to the conference of Northern counties which is' to l«e held at Whangarei tomorrow. The chairman, in inviting as many councillors as possible, said there would probably be discussion upon the question of amalgamation of counties. Ho had noticed that a suggestion had been made that North Auckland should bo cut. crosswise, east to west, into three counties. The council would have to go very carefully into such a proposlUon. He thought it preferable that the counties should be extended northward and southward. There is a certain community of interest along this western coast which is of quite separate- identity from the .east coast,-he said. If it came to an | alteration of boundaries Hobson County would be extended both northwards and southwards, but he was very diffident about suggesting the cutting up of other counties, as there was alwa-s their viewpoint to consider.
