GOLDEN CHEST ART UNION, RESIDENT OF TANEATUA. N.Z. SYNDICATE LUCKY.

A Press Association cablegram from Sydney last evening stated that when the Golden Chest Art Union for city charities was drawn yesterday the first prize—diamonds worth £3000) was won by Mr George Peebles, of Taneatua, New Zealand. It was also announced that a New Zealand syndicate, the names of the members of which were not disclosed, had drawn the secqnd prize of £IOOO in the 146th New South Wales State lottery. Mr George Peebles is an unmarried man, 35 years of age, and assists his father in his general store at Taneatua. He" was born there and was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, He went overseas with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, and after the Armistice w r as stationed at Cologne, returning to New Zealand towards the end of 1919. .He is a well-known footballer and golfer in the Bay of Plenty.
