(From Our Own Correspondent.) “A Nidit Wi’ Burns.’’ There was a moderate attendance at the hall on Wednesday evening, the occasion being .“A Nicht wi’ Burns,’’ under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church, which was represented by the Revs. W. Elliott and Bteele (TTtoki). A lecture on ‘ * Robert Burns, the Immortal Bard’’ by Mr Douglas Ross was greatly appreciated by ail present and we hope to have another visit from this talented lecturer in the near future.

The supporting musical programme by old friends from Whangarci was all that could be desired, the items being as follows: —“The Star of Eabbic Burns," Mr Wallace Calder; song, “Scots Wha hae,'" Mr Hugh Carruth; songs, “Afton Water" and “Ye Banks and Braes," Miss Jessie Mackay; song (a), “John Anderson, My Jo," (b) “The Lass o’ Ballochmoyle," Mr Wallace Calder;._ quartette (a), “Duncan Gray," (b) “There was a lad was born in ’Kyle," Messrs W. Calder, 11. Carruth, B. Dunn and B. Procter; song, “Whustle, and I’ll come to you my lad," Miss Jessie Mac Kay; song (a), “Whistle o’er the lane o’t," (b), “My Heart is Bair," Mr Hugh Carruth; quartette, “Hurrah for the. Bonnets o’ Blue," Messrs Calder, Carruth, Dunn and Procter; “Anld Lang Syne. ’ ’ The accompaniments were ably rendered by Mrs Calder and Mrs Mervyu Wilson. Thanks are due to the ladies who kindly .provided a light .supper at the close of the performance. School Sports. The third round of the schools’ winter sports was held on Friday afternoon before the usual interested gathering of spectators. Particularly improved form was shown by the Kara-. Kokopu girls’ hockey team, whose performance delighted their enthusiastic supporters and their coach, Mr J. Wilson.

Arrangements are well in hand for the big day at Tangitororia on August 4, when the finals between the three groups will bo decided.
