MONSTROUS CRABS

F WAR AIT N G OX SKA BHD. (Received !) a.m.) MFLBOFRXK, June 8. The fishermen at Corner Inlet, Southern Gippsland, have made a strange request to the Government. They declare that their livelihood is jeopardised by an invasion of giant crabs, some of which are two feet across which abound in the local fishing, waters. These crabs are of a light strawberry colour and closely resemble the giant Japanese variety. They can be seen lying from two to three feet thick on the seabed. The fishermen are asking the Government for launches from which to haul heavy rollers over the. seabed in order to crush the crabs.
