SHEER CANARD
AXGLO-PERSTAN TREATY. REPORT OFFICIALLY DENTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 9 a.m.) RUGBY, May 1. The story published by the “Daily Herald” alleging the impending conclusion of an Anglo-Persian treaty for tire purpose of making British influence dominant in Persia is described officially as wholly without foundation. A general treaty with Persia has been under negotiation since 1928, but there is no question of such a. treaty securing an exclusive privilege for Britain, or being in any way directed against any other country. OIL COMPACT CONCLUDED.

The Anglo-Pcrsian oil agreement has been signed. The Anglo-Pereian OrlyCbnvpany agrees to pay royalty of 4/ a ton besides one-iiftli of its net -profits and arrears of £1,000,000, and undertakes to extract 5,000,000 tons annually and not to engage more Persians, It also undertakes to. ' pay £.10,000 a year upon the; education of the Persian students in engineering. The concession runs for 00 years.
