Mr A. D. Baggs, of the district telegraph engineer’s staff, Wellington, has been transferred to Auckland. He will be an additonal member of the staff of the telegraph engineers at Auckland.
■Sergeant-Major .1. S, King, formerly of New Plymouth, and well known throughout New Zealand as a Rugby football referee, has taken up the position of instructor at the general head■quarters Small Arms School at Trentham.
Messrs Justices Herdman and Smith joined with members of file Auckland bar.today in paying tributes to the late Sir Alexander Gray, who, Mr A. M. Goniding, president of the Auckland Law Society, described as one of New Zealand’s foremost counsel, and a very upright and noble gentleman.
Mr A. F. O ’Donohue has been transferred by the New Zealand Broadcasting Board from Dunedin to take over the duties as station director at 1 Y.A, Mr O’Donohue has been in charge of: Station 4 Y.A. since the board took over control in January last year.' He is expected to arrive in Auckland tomorrow. Constable. .1, Coutts, of the staff of the district police, Auckland, has re-’ reived notice of liis promotion to the rank of sergeant at Wellington. An officer popular with the members of the force and public,, he has served 18 years in ’ Auckland in the inspectors’ and district offices. He will leave at the end of. next week,.
