This morning opened quietly on the Auckland Stock Exchange and only two sales were recorded at the first call. Values, however, were well maintained, and in some cases firmed up a little.

Waihis recovered after the recent drop and sold at £1 3/, after which there were still buyers at £1 2/0, with holders asking £1 3/3. Government stocks were very firm. The 3} per cents were asked for at £9B 15/ and the 4 per cents at par, but the only line offering was a percel of 4, per cents, 1955, for which the vendor asked £IOO 10/.

Farmers’ Auctioneering B preference were offered 3d lower at 11/9, and Henry Jones, shares were available at £1 18/,

New Zealand Breweries were firm. f ’ with buyers at £1 9/3 and holders asking 1/ more. Bycrofts were in demand at £1 18/6, and Pukemiro Collieries at 18/. In miscellaneous mining scrip, Goleondas were again conspicuous, and after a sale at lOd, there were still buyers at that figure. Theatre Arcade scrip w r as on offer at £1 5/ for the ordinary shares and £1 6/8 for the preference shares. Noon Call. The following sales were recorded at the noon call: New Zealand Insurance, £2 9/9; Wilsons Cement, £1 12/3; Golconda (3), lOd; Mataki Gold, ,1/10A; Mt. Lyall, £1 0/3; Auckland Harbour Board, 1936, 4 per cent, £99.
