At a meeting of the Murchison County Mining Executive, the local certifying officer reported that a large number of unemployed men had recently arrived in the Murchison district rmder the impression that they could immediately be placed on mining claims. Since the recent inception of the Unemployment Bo ml's inining scheme, 30 men have boon placed on special areas, and it will be necessary for the executive in future to deal with all applications strictly in order of date. Some delay, therefore, must be anticipated before the late arrivals could be satisfactorily placed. The executive advises in a general way that, owing to the probable severity of winter conditions in the Murchison county this season, it would not bo wise for anyone to take up claims in the district unless fully equipped to endure the climatic conditions.
