FEARSOME OATH

The rite of “dedication to the sword,” whereby all the members of the Steel Helmets will in initiated when they reach the age of 17, will bo inaugurated. It is hoped this will develop inio national usage. This rite will begin with a religious service. Tho Steel Helmets w r ill then form a square, with the initiates in the centre while Arndt’s “Cry for Vengeance against France” is sung.

Then the initiates will take the following oath: “By the iron of the sword we swear to show ourselves worthy in the service of the German Fatherland. Oh, Lord God, pour iron into ohr blood, That in battle we may acquire tin? true German manly courage to live and die.” Finally each of tho initiates will be decorated with the “Siegfried Swo/d”! and crowned With a garland of lurch leaves.

The Berlin correspondent 'Of the “News Chronicle’ ’ says the Nazis are preparing laws to close private schools and for Government control of the press. There were remarkable scenes' -in Piccadilly Circus late last night. Seven Fascists selling copies of the “Black Shirt” (Fascist newspaper) aroused the resentment of a big crowd by antiJewish comments.

The Fascists will be charged with obstruction today.
