The transfer of Mr A. Gladding to the Public Health Office, Auckland, will be a loss to Whangarei cricket and Rugby circles. Air Gladding was a consistent Nomad and representative batsman, and played good football for City seniors. He leaves for his now appointment tomorrow. Air S. C. Wells, of Auckland, arrived yesterday afternoon to join tho Whangarei staff of the Department of Health. Air AVells was associated with Dr. Mercer when the office w - as first opened in 1919. His duties here will comprise Governmental inspectorship of health and clerkship to the district medical officer.
Air H. G. Dickie, ALP. for Patea, who lias been visiting Whangarei, returned home yesterday. Air Dickie, who had never travelled North previously was astounded at the growth of the town and district. Before his departure yesterday he confessed that the knowledge gained during his visit had completely changed his outlook upon the North, especially its possibilities of economic development.
