ANTI-TUBERCLE SERUM
EXPERIMENT ON CALVES,
INOCULATION SUCCESS,
(Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, December 19
The Belfast correspondent of •''The Times” states that tests of Spahlinger vaccine by the Northern Ireland Ministry of Agriculture disclosed striking results. Eleven calves were inoculated with anti-tubercle serum. Seven were not vaccinated. Subsequently all were given a lethal dose of tubercle germs. Five of the unvaceinated calves died, hut the eleven vaccinated animals are alive and in excellent health.
Two of the unvaceinated calves are also alive and apparently normal, thus indicating that few animals can naturally resist tuberculosis.
