ARGENTINA PLOTTERS
COMPLETELY SUBDUED,
QUIETUDE PREVAILS,
(Received 10.30 a.m.)
BUENOS AIRES, December 10,
As developments confirmed the Government’s mastery of the revolutionary plot, the Argentina, political atmosphere on Monday became the clearest it has. been since constitutionalism avus restored in February, with a definite dispelling of the throat which has been looming in the background throughout the administration of President Justo. A state of siege was authorised on Saturday, and the Government will probably declare it effective throughout the provinces of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Corrientes and Larioja.
This condition differs from martial law, in that the civil courts continue to function. Extra powers will be invoked, however, to stamp out subversion. Quiet prevails throughout the country.
