NORTHLAND

PRAISE FOR PUBLICATION

WHAT THE PAPERS SAY

Following' arc press and other comments on the special Northland edition of the “Northern Advocate’': —

The,. Press, Christchurch, says

A publication illustrating the development of New Zealand’s northland (he rinO miles from Auckland to North Cape —-has just been published by the “Northern Advocate,” and both in regard to its illustrations and reading matter, is an outstanding -IS-page production. The records of the varied production of the area included show that the northland is one of the most fertile and inviting areas in the Dominion, as rich in beauty and industrial resources as it is in pastoral and agricultural promise. Northland's productivity and still undeveloped resources arc reviewed and illustrated, and it is claimed for the “genial peninsula” that “there remaincth yet very much laud to be possessed.” The Taranaki Herald, New Plymouth, says: A Fine Production.

VVc have received a. copy of the Christmas number the “Northern Advocate,” which is published at Whangarei. It is a magnificent paper of 4S pages full of, illustrations and maps showing the great advances being made, in the district north of Auckland. Dairy factories are dotted everywhere and are turning out just under £2,000,000 worth of dairy produce. The climate is excellent and the scenery unequalled. The production of such a paper shows that the “Northern Advocate” is as progressive as the district in which it circulates.

'The Wuirarapa Daily Times, Master-

ton, says; v “ The Northern Advocate,” published at Whangarei, a thriving town of over 7000 inhabitants, has issued a special Northland, number. This is a very creditable production of 48 pages, which is quite up to city standards. It is profusely illustrated and contains much valuable and interesting informa-' tion regarding the northern areas of New Zealand. We congratulate our contemporary on one of the best efforts of the kind that-has over come under our notice.

Ferry Buildings, Auckland, December Hi: “It might interest you to know that your publication of the special Northland number is being highly commented upon. I think it is an excellent- production, well arranged and a great advertisement for the North. Would you please let me know if this paper can be procured in Auckland?”

A Wellington Advertising Agency writes on December IGth: We have perused with very much interest your special issue, which is indeed a credit to you and your staff. In fact, it is one of the best issues ever put out by any daily paper in New Zealand. Harris Street, Wellington, December Kith: The writer would like to congratulate yon on the very fine production of your illustrated paper —the “ Northern Advocate.” This* must bo the very best piece of work turned out on a “Cossar” machine so far in New Zealand and reflects great credit upon all concerned. This paper should be used by the Government for advertising North Auckland abroad. Maromaku, December 17th: Please accept nyy thanks for the “special” which you sent me. I have been very much interested in the records, also of all the other descriptive doings in this great “Northland” of ours. Although I have been in this part for nearly 10 years, one docs not realise the great strides the North has made in say the last 10 years. One outstanding fact which 1 have observed: The first few years in this district, our local railway goodshed would be seen practically empty of manures. I don’t suppose more than 20 or .10 tons came in in the year; now quite often that much comes in a day. Harbour Board Distribution.

The Whangarei Harbour Board decided today to distribute copies of the li blicatiou “Northland” to all New Zealand Harbour Boards and other sources to be selected by the secretary.

The chairman and several members expressed lliir appreciation of the quality and value of the production.

“It is Ihe best advertisement wo have ever had,” said Mr P. Gardner.
