REFRACTORY PROFESSOR. ‘ ‘ INFALLIBILITY' ’ GIFT. (Eeceivcd 1.30 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, November 4. The Synod of the Dutch Eefonn Church, following the decision of the Supreme Court, decided to revoke the resolution indicting Professor Duplcssis on a charge of heresy for refusing to interpret the Bible literally. Professor Duplessis has now refused to resign on full salary with a pension after his 70th birthday, and demands reinstatement.
The iSynod unanimously requested him to reconsider his decision.
A wealthy Stellenbosch bachelor has announced a gift of £IO,OOO to establish a journal for the defence of the infallibility of the Bible in every detail.
