CAR SKIDS DANGEROUSLY
TELEPHONE WIRES ACROSS
ROAD

In the vicinity of the racecourse at Te Kami a car containing a party of motorists pulled up with a sudden jerk and went into a dangerous skid. . It was found that a private telephone wire which had fallen across the road had become entangled with the brake drums and the differential. The two back tyres .of the car were ripped to pieces and the light manuka telegraph pole suspending the wire was torn down.
It required an hour’s work to disentangle the wire from the under parts of the car.
