AMUSEMENTS

PINE FILM AT REGENT.

“Man of Mayfair,” the clever comedy, is enjoying a splendid season at the Regent Theatre, and last evening again convulsed a capacity house. It is a bright piece, full of sparkling lines and humorous situations, and affords Jaek Buchanan, the w r ell-known English comedian, full scope for his powers. The story tells of how a nobleman falls in love with a chorus girl, who is very unsophisticated, and whose mother is anxious that she should not tangle herself up with a member of the noble class. Thus the nobleman has to resort to all sorts of schemes to get near the girl, and it is here that Jack Buchanan shines. Ho chases bees, serves customers at the tiny wayside tea-room, and generally makes himself useful about the house. At least, he is supposed to make himself useful, but he usually fozzles everything, and so adds greatly to the humour of the piece. He also sings, and gives a very clever exhibition of tap dancing. He is a skilful actor is Jack Buchanan, and “Man of Mayfair” brings out all his talent.
