BRITISH LIBERALS ’ VIEW. MOSTLY ANTAGONISTIC. (Received 9.30*a.m.) LONDON,, September 14. The “Daily Telegraph’ ’ says that the National Liberal Federation will meet on September 21. There ,is a probability that a resolution condemning the Ottawa decisions will be carried by a large majority, but the motion will not include any criticism of Liberal Ministers who, it is believed, do not regard the issues raised at Ottawa as threatening the unity of the Government. EFFECT ON EMPIRE. PROFESSOR’S ANALYSTS. (Received 10 n.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Professor D. B. Copland expressed the opinion that the agreements made at Ottawa will not load to tho development of the Empire as an economy unit. He said that only one-third of Australia ’s export trade went to Britain, and of that ! amount half had to be sold at the world parity prices. One-sixth of , the Australian export trade would benefit from the preferential duties of 10 per cent. The benefit to Australia would be approximately £1,500,000.. •
