(From Our Own Correspondent.) PERSONAL. The Rev. Geo. Budd, superintendent of Presbyterian Home Missions,, hil ompanied by the Rev. W. Elliott, paid: a- visit to the district during.’the latter end of last weeic.
Mr W. Jones, of Pakaraka,- who is ' engaged in an honorary capacity as ’ organiser of the Country Party, spent ■ last, week in the immediate district, Iris mission being,: in preparation for 1 the pending elections. Sunday School Honour. In connection with the recent Scripture examination held under the auspices the • Auckland Sunday School Uniohyc, word has been received that the Whakapara Sunday School., has this .'year be.en awarded the , shield whichi is annually c-omyoted for. This is for'classes; of thirty, (or under) elegible-. scholars; Although) Sunday School; wofk has been carried on for a number of- years* this* is the first occasion 1 on which; a local examination has- been held/ and the auspicious result; will be a great encouragement to the two teachers, Mrs MeCallum and Missj Windrus. Past teachers also* who .so;devotedly carried'on this .labour of ! love, will feel gratified with the success achieved. v Spring Signs. Several weeks ago a shining .cuckoo was reported. Since then, from another district, one hears of a 'Christmas plum tree in fuft flower.
