A letter was read from the Govern-or-General, Lord Eledisloe, stating: “As a humble worshipper at the shrine of Michael Faraday, and as an intense admirer of the work of the Royal Institution, I shall be with you in spirit and sympathy at tonight’s memorial dinner. The one great dominant force in the world today is science. To its manifold revelations no progressive nation can afford to be indifferent. ’ ’
