INTEREST IN BANKS. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Rather more interest was shown in bank shares when brokers met at the first call of the week, but no actual business resulted. Buyers for Australasia moved up to £8 19/9, and holders of Commercials raised selling limits to 14/5. Bank of New Zealand’s were still available at £2 8/3. New Zealand Insurances after being neglected last week attracted a buyer at £2 0/6, but holders stood firm at £2 1/6. Now Zealand Breweries seemed easier, with sellers back to £1 14/6. AFt. Lye lls were wanted at 17/1. Noon Call. Prices showed little alteration, at the noon call, on' the opening rates. A sale was reported of the Mt. Lyell shares at 17/2. N.Z. Breweries were still wanted at £1 13/, and sellers dropped the quotation to £1 14/ without business resulting. Robinson’s Ice Cream shares eased a little, being offered at £l, with buyers still quoting 18/6. .South British Insurance shares firmed to buyers at £2 10/6, but sellers asked another shilling. Taupiri Coal shares also showed a slight improvement, a buyer coming in at £l.
