SHEEP DOG TRIALS
LADY HELPERS ENTERTAINED A 'COMPLIMENTARY FUNCTION From its inception, the Whangaroi County Sheep Dog Trial Club has always been ably assisted by its lady supporters, who have invariably undertaken the catering for the club and, by so doing, have rendered valuable financial assistance. In acknowledgement of its gratitude, and as a compliment to the ladies, the executive of the club entertained them to dinner last night in the Arcadia Tea Rooms. The president, Mr J. A. Finlayson, welcomed the ladies and other supporters, and expressed the club's sincerest thanks for the valuable services they had gratuitously given for so many years. Amongst those who accepted the club’s special invitation to be present in addition to the ladies, wore -^ r James Walker, timekeeper since the inception of the club; Mr A. Fletche”, who has judged on numerous occasion j; Mr D. J. Finlayson, on whose properly the meetings have been held for the past 12 to 14 years; while an apology for absence was received from Mr 11. W. Crawford, who has been judge s steward for some years. Afterwards the party w-ero the guests of the Regent Theatre management.
