A fair amount of business was transacted on the local Stock Exchange after going to press yesterday Fixed-term securities, which have-en-gaged considerable attention of late, were responsible for four of the sales. A this mornin’s call, Bank of New Zealands steadied from the recent recovery, being again on offer at the last sale price, namely, £2 8/3, A parcel of Lines Brewery preference shares was on offer at £l/0/9.

Burns Philp were offered two shillings cheaper, at £l/14/, and Union Oils were available 6d lower, at £l/7/. Buyers for Government tax-free bonds again came forward at £97 15/.

After this morning’s call a sale of Colonial Sugars was effected at £34, which is an increase of 25/- on the previous sale recorded.
