BUSINESS VERY QUIET. (Per Pies* Association.—Copyright./ CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The market for,all classes of produce is very quiet. Potatoes have not yet ceased to fall in price. Whites have actually been sold at 32/6 a ton on trucks, the prompt f.o.b. S.I, price being £2 10/ to £2 12/6. Under the influence' of .the cheap sales for Whites,. Dakotas arc very difficult-.to quit, and a sale was made yesterday at £1 7/6 a trucks. The North Island is not yet making any inquiries. Traders are apparently confident that sufficient potatoes will go north on consignment to meet all demands. Both milling and fowl wheat is inclined to bo easier. Millers are buying very little milling.. There is no movement in either the oats or chaff market. , 1 The demand for seeds is lifeless.

STOCK SALE. SHARP RISE IN FAT LAMBS. / (Per Pres* ooDywght.l : FEILDING, This Day. A sharp rise in the price of fat lambs was recorded at the stock sale yesterday. Up to 23/9 was paid, and the average advance was 3/ a head. Freezing companies operated freely. Fat wethers sold up to 15/4, and fatr ewes to 12/. A very large yarding was offered.
