On the Takanini training track this morning, Hard Words beat Refresher over five furlongs in 1.2. It was a good effort on the part of both, the display by Hard Words being impressive. Principal was beaten easily by Camp Princess over a similar distance in 1.5 3-5. Kodopen and Patecna were to have gone together, but got away unevenly from the half-mile peg. The former registered 53 2-ssec, and Pateena’s time was 52 l-ssec. Fedora was too good for Wee Betty over five furlongs in 1.2 2-5.
