BULLER RIVER TRAGEDY
CAUSED BY DOGS. I (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) WELLINGTON, This Day. I The details concerning the capsizing of the dinghy in the 'Buller River last j Sunday when two young men, Alaurice j Lynch, and William Spiers, lost their 1 lives, show that the tragedy was I brought about by a fight among four ! clogs. The party, it is stated, set out by skirting the edge of an eddy in the river, with the idea- of landing on a shingle-bed at the opposite side, but Hie dogs began to fight before the boat entered the current, and it is considered tllat the dinghy cajpsized before it reached the turning point for the crossing. Thus it was quite close to the point from which the boat started that the two who escaped reached the shore. It was apparently a very unsuitable place at which to attempt to cross the river.
