Twelve unemployed miners from Hikurangi loft, for the Matapouri relief works on Monday and turned to on Tuesday morning. A charge of committing perjury at the Whangarei Magistrate's Court on August 25, 1930, was .preferred against George Hansard (Mr Trimmer) at the Whangarei Police Court this morning. A medical certificate was produced hy counsel explaining Hansard's nonappearance. He was remanded to October 21, bail being - allowed in self of £SO.

A game is also in project for the following week-end between an Auckland men’s team and Whangarei. On account of levelling operations in progress at Kensington Park, it is likely that the games will be played at the High School ground. Hockey is dying hard after one of the most successful seasons on record. On Saturday a Whangarei Wesley team will travel to Dargaville to meet Auckland Wesley. Club spirit in football has a notable example in Hora Horn, which is proud of the distinction. Probably in this lies the reason for the distinguished record built up by the club over a number of years. At Kensington Park on Saturday an inter-club final match has been arranged. On one side will bo arrayed the junior forwards and the light, but clever, third grade backs, and on the other the third grade forwards and the junior backs. Apart from the interesting play which is sure to eventuate, the game should be a valuable guide as to- the advisability of several of the third graders joining the junior ranks after having served an illustrious apprenticeship in the lower grade. The Hora fUma management is to be congratulated upon arranging such a fitting close to a season of successes.
