The Rev. J. D. McKenzie, M.A., D. 8.. who has been spending a few days in Whangarei, left for Auckland by the noon express today. 2\fr L. W. Nelson returned to Whangarei on Saturday after a fortnight’s absence. He judged the light horses at the Manawatu Agricultural Spring Show at Palmerston North and also visited the exhibition at Hamilton. A further gratifying communication has been received by Mr and Mrs W. S. Newberry, of Parua Bay, of the excellent advance which is being made by their son, Mr Reg. Newberry, the noted New Zealand tenor singer, in his studies abroad. Following a successful period in Milan, he has gone to Vienna with -a view to still higher attainment. As evidence of his vocal development, it is stated that he has no difficulty in sustaining an even quality of tone right up to the top 0.
